The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has signed an electronic strategic partnership with the Corporate Social Responsibility UAE Fund, CSR UAE, to implement critical initiatives supporting the country's efforts in combatting the coronavirus under the pillars of Community Wellbeing, Health and Education.
The initiatives are in line with the country’s priorities, and include the Ministry of Community Development’s provision of care and nutrition packages for thousands of families and blue-collar workers under the campaign, 'Caring for Everyone'. Some 445,000 packages were distributed in preparation for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Another ministry initiative includes the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s ensuring supplies for medical equipment requirements for hospitals and patients, and the Ministry of Education contributions of laptops and tablets to support students during distance-learning.
Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, and Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs, and CSR UAE Fund Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, signed the digital memorandum.
Some of CSR UAE Fund’s roles in this partnership include promoting opportunities for the business community to contribute to national priority projects listed on its website through monetary or in-kind donations to support various segments of society within the UAE and raising awareness on the importance of corporate social responsibility.
The COVID-19 projects listed on CSR UAE’s platform have received monetary and in-kind contributions from various businesses across the UAE. The first supporters include Tiffany from IFFCO Group, Marina Insurance Brokers, Alliance Insurance, Al Fahim Group, and employee contributions from the Insurance Authority.
Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the CSR UAE Fund, said that the role businesses can play within CSR initiatives needs to be strengthened today more than ever, particularly with challenges facing the country and the world as a result of the spread of the new coronavirus.
“The signing of this memorandum is an important step in directing the support and contributions of business entities towards projects that serve the priorities and efforts of the UAE in addressing this pandemic that has affected the world,” he added.
CSR UAE Fund continues to receive contributions to support the UAE community during this challenging time.
The CSR UAE Fund was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on 26th November 26 2019, as the official federal platform for all businesses operating in the UAE to actively engage in socially responsible practices that lead to a positive economic, social and environmental impact in line with the UAE National Priorities and Sustainable Development Goals.
